Around the numerous lakes of North America, humid water vapor, changeable climates, and salty lake water pose significant challenges to family courtyard facilities. Traditional fencing materials corrode easily and are hard to maintain in such environments, while PVC fences have become the premium choice for lakeside families to create ideal courtyards, thanks to their excellent water resistance and diverse design options. The Thompson family by Lake Michigan in the U.S. and the Morrow family beside Lake Ontario in Canada have redefined lakeside courtyard life with PVC fences.
Lake Michigan, U.S.: A Sturdy Barrier Against Water Vapor and Lake Erosion
The Thompsons live in a small town by Lake Michigan, where seasons are distinct: humid and rainy summers, and harsh, windy winters. Lake waves often splash ashore in strong winds, and salty water vapor permeates the air year-round. Their previous wooden fence rotted within two years under the dual impact of moisture and lake erosion, with moss covering the surface and parts destroyed by wind-driven waves. In winter, freezing lake water expanded and squeezed the fence, loosening its structure, exhausting the Thompsons with constant repairs.
At a community event, the Thompsons learned about PVC fences. After consultation, they customized a 1.8-meter-tall light gray PVC fence with imitation stone texture, both aesthetic and grand. Made of special water-resistant and anti-corrosion materials, it defied lake water and vapor, resisting mold and rot even in prolonged humidity; its stable structure remained solid against strong winds and freezing lakes. The installed PVC fence with hollow patterns added artistic flair to the courtyard, harmonizing with Lake Michigan’s natural landscape. The Thompsons furnished the area with outdoor loungers, sunshades, and moisture-tolerant flowers. Now, they relax in their fenced courtyard, admiring Lake Michigan’s grandeur and listening to lapping waves.

Lake Ontario, Canada: A Cozy Guardian Adapting to Temperature Differences and Storms
The Morrows reside in a countryside by Lake Ontario, where winters are long and cold (down to -30°C) with frequent blizzards, and summers are hot with large day-night temperature differences. Their former iron fence’s paint peeled rapidly in extreme temperatures, with rust weakening its structure. During storms, the fragile fence swayed noisily in gales, posing major safety risks.
To improve this, the Morrows installed a PVC fence: a 2-meter-tall white model with Victorian-style carvings, topped with windproof baffles. Made of freeze-proof and heat-resistant materials, it maintained performance between -30°C and 35°C, free from cracking or deformation; its special impact-resistant design withstood winds above level 10. The elegant PVC fence elevated the courtyard’s style, blending perfectly with their Lake Ontario countryside villa. The Morrows built a wooden terrace inside, adding a swing, grill, maple trees, and blueberry bushes. In spring and autumn, the family grills and swings, enjoying the lake view; in winter, they gather by the terrace fireplace, watching snow outside while feeling warm and peaceful.

From Lake Michigan to Lake Ontario, PVC fences have become the erosion-resistant and poetic choice for North American lakeside courtyards, combining excellent corrosion resistance, temperature adaptability, and wind protection with diverse designs. They not only safeguard lakeside life but also create poetic and cozy courtyard spaces, allowing families to fully enjoy life alongside the lakes.
