In an ordinary community park in Longhua District, Shenzhen, two brand – new arched PVC flower racks have become the new favorites of residents for leisure and entertainment. Sunlight filters through the intertwined vines on the grid, casting dappled shadows on the ground. Here, the chess games of the elderly, the laughter of children, and the casual conversations of young people all blend together in this corner full of natural charm. This once – outdated park has taken on a new lease of life with the addition of these beautifully designed flower racks. Not only has the environment been enhanced, but also a comfortable resting space has been provided for community residents.
The community park was built in 2010 and covers an area of about 2,000 square meters. As time went by, the original facilities gradually deteriorated. Especially in the central resting area of the park, there were only a few simple stone benches and a small pavilion, lacking both characteristics and attractiveness. Every weekend, residents would complain, “It’s so hard to find a comfortable and nice place to sit. This park really needs a makeover!” During the community environmental renovation in 2022, the neighborhood committee listed improving the quality of the park as a key project and decided to install two sets of flower racks to create a more comfortable leisure environment for the residents.

To find the most suitable flower racks, the neighborhood committee established a special project team. The team members visited major building materials markets in Shenzhen, collecting samples of flower racks made of different materials such as iron, wood, and PVC. They also launched a questionnaire in the community’s homeowners’ group, gathering more than 300 responses from residents. Among the feedback, “durability,” “aesthetic appeal,” and “safety” emerged as the most – concerned keywords. During the comparison process, although iron flower racks were sturdy, they were heavy and prone to rust; wooden flower racks, despite their natural charm, could not withstand Shenzhen’s humid climate. In contrast, PVC flower racks stood out in the preliminary screening due to their light weight, corrosion resistance, and ease of maintenance.
To ensure both quality and cost – effectiveness, the neighborhood committee searched for suppliers both offline in Shenzhen and online on various platforms. Eventually, they contacted us by phone. Upon receiving the call, we immediately provided design drawings of the arched, dark – brown PVC flower racks with imitation rattan patterns. We also detailed the material’s anti – ultraviolet and impact – resistance test reports and even promised one – year free warranty. After two rounds of on – site presentations and on – site inspections of our factory’s production process, the neighborhood committee finally selected us as the cooperative partner.
The two sets of flower racks feature an arched design. Each set is about 3 meters long and 2.2 meters high, with an imitation rattan texture on the surface, presenting a natural dark – brown color. From a distance, they look almost identical to real rattan racks but are much more robust and durable. The top of the flower racks is designed with a grid structure, facilitating the growth of climbing plants, while matching benches are installed below for residents to rest. The installation process was extremely straightforward. Construction workers first transported pre – fabricated PVC components to the site and then assembled them like building blocks. Thanks to the modular design, the entire installation was completed in just two days, and almost no construction waste was generated. Immediately after installation, gardeners planted firecracker vines and wisteria on both sides of the flower racks, allowing the greenery to climb and grow along them.

After being put into use, the renovated resting area quickly became the most popular spot in the park. In the early morning, the elderly enjoy practicing tai chi here; in the afternoon, mothers with strollers come for a rest; and in the evening, it becomes a great place for office workers to unwind. Aunt Li, a resident, said, “It’s especially cool under these flower racks, much more comfortable than the old stone benches. When the flowers bloom, it’s incredibly beautiful, and we often take photos here.” Uncle Wang, the park cleaner, also spoke highly of the PVC flower racks: “Before, I had to be very careful when cleaning iron racks, afraid of scratching off the paint. But these PVC flower racks can be directly washed with a high – pressure water gun, which is so convenient. After more than half a year, they still look brand new.”
What pleases the neighborhood committee even more is the extremely low maintenance cost of these two sets of flower racks. Apart from regular plant pruning, little additional upkeep is required. Despite the frequent typhoons in Shenzhen during summer, after several strong wind tests, the flower racks have remained firmly in place without any loosening or damage.

Today, this renovation project has become a model for surrounding communities. Community leaders often come to visit and learn from it. Xiao Chen, the community worker in charge of the project, said, “We didn’t expect it to turn out so well. PVC flower racks are not only beautiful and practical but also highly cost – effective. The total cost of the two sets of flower racks and installation was just over 8,000 yuan, yet they have brought real happiness to the residents.”
As time passes, the plants on the flower racks grow more and more luxuriantly, injecting endless vitality into the small park. This successful renovation case proves that sometimes, instead of large – scale demolition and reconstruction, simply choosing the right products and applying thoughtful designs can significantly improve the community environment. With their durability, aesthetic appeal, and low – maintenance features, PVC flower racks are being increasingly adopted by more and more community parks.
